Awash in Porn: Part 3 - Suggestions

3.14, over at Big Ball of String, asked this in a comment on Part 2:

"...you seem to be somewhat of an expert on the subject, do you give suggestions/pointers?"

Hmmm. Let me think about that for a minute. If consuming porn for 30 years makes you an expert, and it does, then I am. I can visually identify by name a large number of porn stars, and I can talk at length about porn genres.

The problem with recommending porn is tastes. Everyone has different tastes. And mine are rather advanced. (Porn is a progressive addiction. You want more and different and wilder as you go along.)

Take the case of my September B.O.B of the month club selections for the lovely strippers Passion and Sunshine. Instead of vibrators this month, I got them porn DVD's, selected to match their tastes as they expressed them. Penetration for Passion, all-girl for Sunshine. Sunshine's selection was easy - "Jenna Does Carmen", a hot two disc set. Hours of hot girl sex. I haven't heard feedback yet, but I'm sure she would like it. Passion's was harder (no pun). So I got her two discs: an "Air Tight" selection (3 guys, 1 girl, penetration!), and "Girth, Wind, and Fire" with Gia Paloma. She watched Girth first. Her reaction: a little too much for her. Same reaction as when I got dancer Spririt a magazine (Hustler: Taboo) with her BOB one month - too extreme for her.

So, some of my choices were too extreme for strippers! That taught me something about my tastes vs. others.

So, I'll offer 3 simple thoughts:

1. Genre: DVD's are often organized in stores by genre. What category gets you off?
- couples, with plot
- gonzo: no plot, sex scene after sex scene
- all-girl
- group sex
- interracial (variations of "monster dicks and white chicks")
- anal (very popular in porn, believe me!)
- teen ("Barely Legal")
- gay men / tranny
- exotic (midgets, fisting, double anal, etc.)

Knowing what you want helps. Although, you may want to tour through the genres to help you know what gets you off.

2. Porn companies. Each definitely has a distinct style.

- Vivid Video: the gold standard. Gorgeous women. Vanilla sex in several genres.
- Wicked Pictures: still gorgeous women, a little more adventurous
- New Sensations/Digital Sin: my favorite. DS is a little harder core than NS
- Private: European hardcore

There are many, many more. Each with a brand series, like "Screw my Wife, Please".

3. Internet. Downloads are taking the market from DVDs, both because it's convenient and especially for women because you can purchase porn without having to go through the door of an adult store and browse standing next to perverts like me. :)

- Sensual Arousal Blog is a good pointer blog to lesbian porn. She'll post thumbnails that point you to sites like Sapphic Erotica, Her First Lesbian Sex, etc.

- For harder core bondage and submission I recommend Whipped Ass (all girl) and Sex and Submission. Click on the "Video Tour" at both places, it's a good sampler. Then scroll through the "updates".
